Taxi driver seriously injured after crash with Stagecoach double-decker bus

A taxi driver was taken to hospital after a crash with a double-decker bus in Tameside.

The smash happened at the junction of Henrietta Street and Albion Way in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 11.30pm last night (Sunday). The taxi - a Renault Transit minibus - and Stagecoach bus collided, police said.

Neither of the vehicles were carrying passengers at the time. The taxi driver - a 63-year-old man - was taken to hospital from the scene.
