Tax chiefs admitted they provided misleading information last year in the row over Nadhim Zahawi ’s tax affairs.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) wrongly said said no Government minister was under investigation, in response to an inquiry from the Financial Times.
It comes after a difficult week for Downing Street, amid growing calls for the Tory chairman to stand aside while under investigation for settling a multimillion-pound tax dispute while he was Chancellor.
