Target has formally initiated a sweeping recall of several prepackaged dips, spreads and salsas from its stores across 26 states. The retailer’s decision was prompted by a serious health risk involving potential Salmonella contamination. The recall specifically targets ready-to-eat party snacks and condiments containing fresh jalapeño peppers as a primary ingredient.
Food safety investigators from the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were able to trace the contaminated peppers back to a single farm in Sinaloa, Mexico.
