COIMBATORE: In a first in the state, the Tamil Nadu forest department is all set to rewild a tiger cub at Monombolly forest range in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) from March.
The forest department has identified one hectare (10,000 square metres) at Manthirimattam in the reserve forest to rewild an eight-month-old male tiger cub. The cub was rescued from Thaimudi Estate at Manambolly forest range in ATR on September 28 last year. It was wandering outside the reserve forest in poor health. The cub had a porcupine quill on its body, and it was kept in a cage near the forest department’s rest house at Manambolly.
