CHENNAI: CCB cyber crime wing has registered a case against Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai for his recent tweets and statements in social media over the guest labour issue. He has been booked for inciting violence among people and spreading rumours.
Police have booked him under sections 153 (Whoever malignantly, or wantonly, by doing anything which is illegal, gives provocation to any person intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause the offence of rioting to be committed) 153A(1)(a),505(1)(b) (Whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement or report containing rumour or alarming news with intent to create or promote, or which is likely to create or promote, on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, caste or community or any other ground whatsoever, feelings of enmity, hatred), 505(1)(c) IPC (with intent to incite, or which is likely to incite, any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community, shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to 6[three years], or with fine, or with both)
After being booked, Annamalai in a tweet challenged the ruling government in the state to arrest him. "I understand DMK has filed cases against me for exposing their seven decade propaganda against North Indian brothers. So here is the video of what they spoke which was mentioned in my press release yesterday. I challenge Fascist DMK to arrest me," he tweeted.
