Nottingham boxing legend Carl Froch has launched an astonishing four-letter blast at UFC icon Conor McGregor and insisted that the Irish mixed martial artist would never realistically step into a ring with him.
Froch and McGregor have traded insults over social media after suggestions the two could meet in a boxing ring, something "the Cobra" believes he would be more keen on out the two of them.
Froch, who won the WBC, IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles during the course of his glittering career, has never been shy in coming forward since retiring from the sport.
Working as a TV pundit and podcast host, his views on the sport and the fighters involved, have been forthright and often controversial.
In an exclusive interview with BettingSites.co.uk, Froch held nothing back when the subject of McGregor came up.
He blasted: "Conor McGregor was talking s**t, wasn’t he? Talking nonsense about me and piping up. Then I think he realised that if he takes me on in my discipline in boxing, it's going to be even worse than what happened to him when he fought Floyd Mayweather.
"Mayweather is a quality fighter, but he’s small, he’s a light boxer. I’m quite heavy and I'm even heavier now. I’ve been retired for nine years and I keep myself in shape. So I think he realises that you don't want to be getting in the boxing ring with me, which is fair enough.”
Froch didn't stop there though, and even had a pop at McGregor's business sideline. “He's made himself a fortune. I've got a lot of admiration for him. Now, if you can blow that much money – whatever McGregor’s got, if he's blowing it and spending it and buying Lamborghini boats and being frivolous with it by gambling, I hope he isn’t.
"He's earned his money the hardest way. He’s got his whiskey brand too, but everyone says that whiskey tastes like proper s**t by the way.”
