Tahith Chong had knife 'held to his throat' in latest robbery to hit Man Utd squad

Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong was reportedly "robbed at knifepoint" after "masked raiders" broke into his home at 3am.

The 22-year-old is the latest United player to be burgled after recent attacks on Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof and Jesse Lingard.

The robbers are said to have stolen thousands of pounds worth of possessions - including jewellery, watches and designers bags - and "held a blade" to Chong's throat. They are also alleged to have mocked the Dutch winger over his lack of security.

Chong is the fifth Manchester-based footballer to suffer a break-in since Christmas. The incident reportedly happened on January 16 and police were called shortly afterwards. The youngster is currently on loan at Championship outfit Birmingham City.

"It was an awful experience for him," a source told The Sun. "He was woken to the sight of three armed men in balaclavas holding knives to his throat. They also shone torches in his eyes and ordered him to get up and give them items, including watches.

"It seemed like they knew what they were doing and what they were after. They knew who the player was and were calling him by his name. And they even told him that he really needed to improve his security or risked it happening again. It's chilling.

"He was left extremely shaken. The gang were professional and seemed like they had done it before, possibly to other players."

Manchester City ace Joao Cancelo was assaulted when four men robbed his home on December 30 last year. "Unfortunately I was assaulted by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family," wrote Cancelo on Instagram shortly after the incident.

"When you show resistance this [an injury] is what happens. They managed to take all my jewellery and leave me with my face with this state. The most important thing for me is my family and luckily they are all OK."

Lingard was burgled on January 15 while United were playing Aston Villa in Birmingham and Lindelof was targeted by robbers during United's game against Brentford in London on January 19. Lindelof's wife and two sons were in the property at the time.

Pogba was the most recent United star to be robbed. His home was broken into during United's Champions League game against Atletico Madrid on March 15. Pogba's children were in the property at the time and his World Cup winners' medal was stolen.

"I am ok, my family too," said Pogba. "I had quite a surprising week... when I went home, I discovered that my home was robbed following the entry of three people who stole my safe. There was my mother’s jewellery in there, my World Cup medal."

Pogba went on to say: "What scared me the most, is that my two children were at home with the nanny during the incident. She heard everything, called my wife and security, then locked herself with the boys in a room. For several days after, she was in shock. The most important thing is that my children are doing fine."
