T20 World Cup: Uganda register unwanted record in New Zealand thrashing

NEW DELHI: Uganda were thrashed by New Zealand by nine wickets in a T20 World Cup Group C clash of already-eliminated teams at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Tim Southee took 3/4 and Trent Boult returned with 2/7 as Uganda were bundled out for a paltry 40 in 18.4 overs.

The Black Caps then raced to their victory target in just 5.2 overs for the loss of only one wicket.

Uganda's 40 all out is the third lowest team total T20 World Cup history.

Uganda also have to their name the second lowest team total T20 World Cup history.

New Zealand's exit from the tournament was confirmed by Afghanistan's win over Papua New Guinea on Thursday.

New Zealand registered their biggest win by balls remaining in all T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 74 against Kenya in Durban during the inaugural T20 World Cup edition back in 2007.
