The Kremlin source stated that Russian officials are in communication with representatives of the armed Syrian opposition, who have given assurances regarding the safety of Russian facilities in the region.
It was mentioned that Russia is hopeful for the continuation of political dialogue in the best interests of the Syrian people and for the advancement of bilateral relations between Russia and Syria. Recent reports from TASS indicated that supporters of the Syrian armed opposition had gained control of the city of Jableh in western Syria, near Russia's Hmeymim airbase.
Eyewitnesses informed Russian state media that the situation around the Hmeymim airbase remained peaceful, with no reports of clashes with the rebels. Additionally, the Syrian government flag was reportedly removed from the Syrian Embassy building in Moscow, along with the plaque displaying the name of the diplomatic mission, as reported by a TASS correspondent.
