Bennett exit suits everyone
Russell Martin believes Ryan Bennett's exit from Swansea benefits all parties.
The defender has not played for the Swans since the 5-1 defeat to Fulham in March and was told earlier this year that he could leave the club. He attracted interest from Reading, although the Royals were unable to sanction a deal to sign the 32-year-old due to their transfer embargo.
However, on deadline day, the player and the club reached a mutual agreement for Bennett's contract to be paid up prematurely, meaning he is now a free agent. When asked if the deal suited both Bennett and Swansea, Martin commented: "I think so. We’ve been really honest with each other. He wasn’t going to play.
"If he didn’t terminate his contract yesterday he couldn’t go anywhere until January because he didn’t find a suitor that was ready to take him or that he was ready to go to within the window.
"It gives him freedom to go and find the next club in his career. I’m sure it benefitted both parties, the club and Ryan in the end. We wish him nothing but the best and thank him for his efforts while he was here."
Piroe explains Stoke celebration
Joel Piroe says he was happy to prove his doubters wrong when celebrating his goal against Stoke City.
The Dutchman netted his second goal of the campaign after just six minutes of the contest at the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night to put Swansea into the lead. The forward celebrated by patting the Swansea badge on his chest, a gesture that went down well with the Jack Army.
And Piroe says his celebration was a show of gratitude for the opportunity the club has given him since he joined from PSV Eindhoven last year.
"I'm happy to be here," he said. "I've read some things that people thought I wasn't bothered, but I'm really happy to play here and they have given me a lot of chances to show myself. I'm just really thankful for that."
Harrison delighted with capture of Swan
Craig Harrison believes Dan Williams will perfectly suit The New Saints' style of play.
Midfielder Williams joined the Cymru Premier side on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season on transfer deadline day after being unable to force his way into Russell Martin's first team plans.
And TNS boss Harrison says the Welshman's qualities will significantly improve his squad at Park Hall. “Dan has been at Swansea for a long time and has been in and around the first team for the last two to three years," he said.
"His arrival brings more quality options in the midfield area and keeps competition very high. He has a very good range of passing, is very comfortable in possession and can also score goals from outside the box. He’s a very good footballer and will fit in with the style of football that we want to play.”
