Ryan Bennett is poised to become a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Swansea City, WalesOnline understands.
The defender has not featured for the club since turning out in a 5-1 defeat to Fulham at the Swansea.com Stadium in March.
He fell out-of-favour with head coach Russell Martin who told the defender he could leave Swansea this summer.
LIVE UPDATES: Swansea City transfer deadline day
Bennett attracted interest from Reading earlier on in the transfer window, although the Royals were unable to strike a deal to take Bennett to Berkshire.
However, on transfer deadline day, Swansea and Bennett reached a mutual agreement to pay up the 32-year-old's contract.
The former Wolves and Norwich City man had one year left to run on his deal in south Wales, but the agreement sees him become a free agent.
It means he can secure a move elsewhere beyond Thursday's 11pm deadline.
Bennett joined Swansea from Wolves in the summer of 2020 and made 49 appearances in all competitions for the club.
He has not featured in a single matchday squad for Swansea this season and has trained with the club's Under-21s.
