A family have paid tribute to a mother, grandmother, and sister who has been named as the victim of an alleged murder near a Welsh seaside town.
Officers received a call at 10.56pm on Sunday July 10 regarding a woman in a "distressed state" on Marine Parade, Barmouth. Police attended the scene with paramedics however the woman sadly passed away. Detectives said her death was being treated as suspicious and an investigation was launched. She has been named Margaret Barnes, aged 71, from Birmingham.
A man was arrested on suspicion of murder and police confirmed on August 4 that he had been charged with the offence. David Redfern, aged 45, from Barmouth and was scheduled to appear in court today (August 5).
Margaret's family have since released a tribute, North Wales Live reports. The family said: "Margaret was a devoted wife, and the best mother, grandmother and sister anyone could ask for. She always had a smile on her face and was always caring, loving and willing to help anyone especially her family who she cherished.
"She has been cruelly taken from us far too early. She will be sorely missed and we can honestly say that our lives without her will never be the same again.’"
