Good Morning Britain aired awkward scenes on the show on Monday morning, leading to a guest being called out by viewers as well as host Susanna Reid.
After a "condescending" comment by a guest, host Susanna interjected to put her straight after not being impressed with what she had to say.
What started as a debate about whether certain methods of protest "went too far" led to somewhat heated scenes between the hosts and the guest.
The discussion came off the back of a woman throwing orange confetti at former UK Chancellor George Osborne and his new bride Thea Rogers this weekend, as they left their wedding ceremony.
Environmental activist group Just Stop Oil spoke out on Sunday and denied claims its members threw the orange confetti over the couple, while they did "applaud" the actions, particularly if it is part of a protest.
The moment was discussed on GMB on Monday, with the hosts asking if the throwing of confetti during someone's wedding day as a form of protest was a step too far.
Susanna had questioned guest Tracey's comments about the government's, and Osborne's, actions regarding "climate denial" as co-host Ed Balls shared his belief that her thoughts were not accurate.
Tracey claimed Osborne was responsible for "a lot of terrible media messaging" when it came to climate denial, encouraging Ed to do some "heavy reading" on the topic.
Susanna then asked Tracey to tell them what happened for her to believe this, resulting in the guest asking what she meant before calling her "darling".
Susanna laughed before telling her: "Sorry, you don’t need to call me darling." Tracey put the comment towards Susanna down to her being "working class", before providing her thoughts on the question.
After that things remained a little awkward with it clear the hosts and the guest were just not in agreement with each other, and her points led to her being called out a number of times.
Viewers watching at home were quick to back Susanna though for calling out the 'condescending' comment. While some defended Tracey, plenty of others threw support behind Susanna.
Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "This woman is so rude on the tv - ‘ darling ’… how condescending." A second fan tweeted: "'Sorry, don’t call me Darling'. You tell her."
A third viewer wrote: "Susanna told her straight when she called her darling," while a fourth said of the comment: "Sorry, you don’t need to call me darling ! Well said Susanna, that made me giggle."
But some viewers didn't see the insult in the comment, with one writing: "Seemed like an ambush although she didn’t help herself with initial statement. Not a good look . Darling is just a term often used in local dialect like love, duck, there was no offence just used in normal conversation," as another wrote: "you're attacking the poor woman. Why invite her on if you don't want her to talk."
