A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi, expressed serious concern over procedural lapses and the conduct of the police during the investigation. The court was particularly disturbed by the manner in which the survivor’s statement was recorded — reportedly in the presence of the accused.
