On Sept. 25, 2026, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Missouri must use U.S. House districts enacted in 2022 for the Nov. 3, 2026, general elections. In the primary elections on Aug. 4, Missouri used new district maps enacted in 2025.
The new maps were expected to shift one district, held by Emanuel Cleaver (D), to Republicans. Heading into the election, Republicans held six seats and Democrats held two in the state's House delegation.
Missouri voters will also decide on a veto referendum targeting the new maps on Nov. 3. If voters approve the measure, the new maps would be enacted for future elections. If voters reject the measure, the maps passed in 2025 would be repealed.
