Support for more than 300,000 fledgling UK start-ups as part of new partnership

Monzo Business and Enterprise Nation are set to offer early-stage support to more than 300,000 fledgling UK start-ups as part of a new partnership, it has been announced today.

The StartUp UK collaboration will see the UK’s digital bank team up with fastest-growing small business support platform to deliver high quality guidance and support to ensure the next generation of entrepreneurs get the best start for their business through a range of resources including bite-sized e-learning, workshops and nationwide events.

The pioneering partnership programme follows research which found one in three (30%) working age adults are considering starting a business or side-hustle in 2023. That figure rises to almost half (48%) amongst 18- to 24-year-olds.

Emma Jones, CBE, founder and CEO of Enterprise Nation, said: “There is no shortage of ambition to start a business in the UK, but we must ensure these fledgling businesses get the best start possible.

“Learning best practice from the get-go helps entrepreneurs set clear objectives and expectations early on, so they can build a plan for real growth.

“A healthy supply of pre-start and start-up businesses will play an increasingly important role as the UK tackles macroeconomic challenges as it strives for growth. It’s wonderful to be working with an organisation like Monzo Business that shares that entrepreneurial vision.”

Jordan Shwide, Head of Monzo Business, said: “Startups and small businesses are the backbone of the UK economy and are at heart of the nation's innovation and growth. We’re lucky enough to see this in action everyday with our customers, working with them to create a business bank account and industry-first features that support them wherever they are on their business journey. We know it’s tough out there for small businesses right now, so we’re really excited to be partnering with Enterprise Nation at a time when we’re focused on supporting them in any way we can.”

By the end of 2024, the StartUp UK programme plans to reach a million pre-start and start-up businesses with targeted support.
