Superman star David Corenswet gave Supergirl's Milly Alcock advice on "everything", including how to fly

Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl.

There's nothing like advice from an older, wiser cousin. That's what Supergirl star Milly Alcock thought, anyway, when she sought advice from the DCU's Superman, David Corenswet, about "everything" to do with playing Kryptonian (although, of course, Kara Zor-El is technically older than Kal-El…)

"David was on set, and I asked him for advice about everything," Alcock said during an appearance at CCXP Mexico. "And he was very lovely, very warm. But yeah, I was just, like, 'How do you fly? How does it work? What do I do? Help me!'"

The pair briefly shared the screen in 2025's Superman, when Clark Kent's party girl cousin came to collect her wayward pup, Krypto, from her cousin's care. She'll take center stage this summer in Supergirl, based on the Woman of Tomorrow comic, which will see Kara go on a "murderous quest for revenge" across the galaxy (accompanied by Krypto, of course), where she'll butt heads with Matthias Schoenaerts' villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Alcock may have sought out Corenswet's advice, but she didn't reach out to other actors who've previously played Supergirl, like the DCEU's Sasha Calle or the CW's Melissa Benoist. "They're just people living their lives. It's not like we have this blood bond," she said in an interview last month. "You have to respect that they don't owe you that."

Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26. In the meantime, get up to speed with the rest of DCU Chapter One with our guide to all the other upcoming DC movies and shows.
