Lego has announced that Super Mario minifigures are officially leaping from warp pipes and into our lives next year, which begs the question: what now? What will they be for, do they include Smart Play technology, and what does this mean for the existing range?
Teased as part of the MAR10 Day celebrations (alongside Lego Luigi and his iconic death stare), this marks the first time the series has received true, actual minifigures of the kind seen in the best Lego sets. Since the range began in 2020, these Lego staples have been swapped out for larger, digital figures that interact with the courses around them. So now minifigs are joining the (Mario) party, what happens next? Are we phasing out those digital figures? Or are these newcomers reserved for something else?
