Sunil Gavaskar reacts after not being invited to present Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Sydney: Cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar on Sunday expressed his disappointment after not being invited to the presentation ceremony at the Sydney Cricket Ground after Australia defeated India by 6 wickets to win the five-match series by 3-1. 

Border presents BGT to Cummins 
Former Australia captain Allan Border was invited to present the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), named after him and Gavaskar, to Australia skipper Pat Cummins. 

However, the Ex-India opener was not invited to the ceremony to hand over the trophy. He stood on the edge of the boundary roped and clapped as Border presented the prestigious trophy.

Gavaskar
I certainly would have loved to have been there for the presentation. After all it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it is about Australia and India," Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Code Sports.

“I mean, I am here on the ground. To me it should not matter that Australia won when it comes to the presentation. They played better cricket so they won. That's fine.


"Just because I am an Indian. I would have been happy to present the trophy with my good friend Allan Border," the legendary cricketer added.

Aus wins BGT 
Australia last time won the BGT in 2014-15 season. Till the time of publishing the report, Cricket Australia have not issued any statement publicly on the decision.(With Agency Inputs)
