Leon Dajaku is set to return to Wearside early next week to assess his fitness, ahead of Sunderland's potential involvement in the play-offs. The Black Cats go into tomorrow's final day trip to Morecambe looking to secure a top six finish.
If they do finish in the play-off spots, there is a chance that Dajaku could play a part - depending on his condition. The on-loan Union Berlin winger has not featured since Sunderland's draw at Lincoln City in mid-March, with boss Alex Neil revealing recently that the 21-year-old has been ill and had returned to his homeland for treatment.
But he is due back at the Academy of Light on Monday to be checked over by the club's medical staff. "Leon will probably be back at the start of the week," said Neil.

"He's been getting treatment in Germany, and when he gets back he will bring his stuff with him in terms of what the doctors have been doing.
"We've tried to liaise with the doctors [in Germany] but naturally, because it is a different country, it is much more difficult and there are confidentiality issues and all that type of stuff. He'll be back at the start of the week and then we'll take a view in terms of where he is."
Aiden McGeady continues to step up his recovery from the knee ligament injury that has sidelined him since November. He was involved in the warm-up ahead of Tuesday night's draw against Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light, but after so long out of action it is unlikely he will be involved in the remainder of Sunderland's season.
After the Black Cats trip to Morecambe, they could potentially have up to three more games in the play-offs. Neil said of McGeady: "He's made good progress, he's been on the grass and he has trained with the lads. We'll take a view [on his fitness]."
