Sugar Prices Relinquish Early Gains on Dollar Strength

July NY world sugar #11 (SBN23) on Friday closed down -0.10 (-0.39%), and Aug London white sugar #5 (SWQ23) closed down -7.90 (-1.15%).

Sugar prices Friday gave up an early advance and closed moderately lower.  A rebound in the dollar sparked long liquidation in sugar futures after the dollar index Friday recovered from a 2-1/2 week low and moved higher.  Sugar prices Friday initially extended Thursday's gains, with NY sugar posting a 2-1/2 week high, on concerns an El Nino weather pattern could disrupt global sugar production.
