Sugababes set to play in Newcastle as group announces first tour for 20 years

The original Sugababes trio have announced that they are touring for the first time in two decades, including a stop in Newcastle this year. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy formed Sugababes back in 1998, releasing their debut album One Touch in 2000.

Dubbed “the most successful British female group of the 21st Century” by Newcastle’s O2 City Hall , the stars have hit the headlines over the years after making several changes to the group’s line-up. Siobhan was the first to leave the group back in 2001, being replaced by Heidi Range.

Mutya went on to depart in 2005, making way for Amelle Berrabah, before Keisha became the last of the original trio to leave in 2009 and was replaced by Jade Ewen. The new Sugababes line-up announced their split after going on indefinite hiatus in 2011, while Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan got back together that same year and have now reclaimed the Sugababes name following a legal battle.

The trio appeared on This Morning as they broke news of their new tour, admitting that their planned comeback as Sugababes was "complicated", The Mirror reports . Keisha told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "We were fighting for the name and legally we wanted it back.

"It was really important for us because we came up with it when we were kids, but we stuck together and it’s who we are really and we’re just glad that we’ve got it back… and that’s why everything we do now means so much more."

Sugababes are touring later this year throughout October and November, with 17 dates announced across the UK. They will play at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall on Friday, November 4 with general tickets going on sale on July 1 from 10am here.
