A photo has captured the Northern Lights as it appeared in a rare display over Wales. Derren Jones, who captured the stunning photograph, saw the aurora borealis in an amazing display over Llanddwyn Island in Anglesey in the early hours of August 8.
Derren, who runs the North Wales Storm Watch Facebook group, took the photo at around 12.30am. Through the group, Derren predicts weather that will affect north Wales, including heat waves, as well as super moons, meteor showers and more. As part of this, Derren includes predictions for seeing the aurora borealis.
Derren says that he uses the Glendale App, which sends you notifications based on your location for when the aurora borealis is due to appear. As well as using the app, Derren said he looked at Space Weather Live, which also provides an aurora forecast.
