These stunning long exposure photographs show the Northern Lights shining behind mountains and illuminating a Scottish loch.
The aurora borealis was captured on Wednesday night, looking north up Loch Lomond towards Ben Lomond.
Hazy green light bends into the purple night sky, punctuated by the brighter beams coming from nearby settlements.
David Gilliver, 42, from Gartcosh, North Lanarkshire, went out after dark to capture the phenomenon with his Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 24mm prime lens.
The dad-of-one said: "The lights were barely visible to the naked eye when I arrived at Duck Bay Marina next to Loch Lomond - I could just make out a vague green hue in the sky.
"I set my camera rolling straight away and was so excited when I started to see the northern lights appearing in the resulting exposures.
"It is one of the most exciting moments I have experienced as a photographer!"
David ventured outdoors with his mother, and they stayed for two hours witnessing the lights' natural beauty and taking pictures with a 25-second exposure.
His stunning photos were snapped around 11.30pm.
David said: "I have only witnessed them twice before and didn't have my camera gear with me on one of those occasions.
"So I was really excited to discover that the northern lights were going to be pretty active this week."
