A woman doing her weekly shop at Aldi was shocked when a leg of lamb priced almost £1,000 turned up on her bill - especially as she hadn't even have any lamb in her trolley. The 43-year-old from Newport, who asked not to be named, had been at the supermarket's Risca store on Friday afternoon when the four-figure faux pas occurred.
She added that the tally of £972.43 for a supposed 15-stone piece of meat just popped up from nowhere at the end of her usual Friday afternoon visit. "I'd gone to the checkout and tried to pay contactless with my card, but it wasn't going through," she said.
"At which point the lady on the till told me she was going to have to call a supervisor to help with voiding an amount. It didn't click until after I'd picked up my receipt that a leg of lamb worth almost a grand had popped up from nowhere at the end of my bill."
