A student who was left with a broken leg after being run over by a car during an attempted robbery in north Dublin has thanked well-wishers for their "amazing" support.
On April 23, Alfredo Gallegos, 26 and his girlfriend were on their way to Dublin Airport when they were victims of a robbery in the early hours of the morning when a car with two men pulled up to them.
Alfredo, who is an English language student and also works as a tour guide in Dublin city centre, told DublinLive that they were approached by two men in a car who tried to rob them on the Shantalla Road in Beaumont.

He said: "I tried to protect my girlfriend at first, and then I resisted the assault. When we tried to escape the man who was in the car ran over me."
Alfredo's wallet was stolen by the men and he was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where doctors determined that he had a broken fibula in his left leg, leaving him unable to walk or work for up to eight weeks.
Alfredo and his girlfriend were also left "very scared" during the incident, and said that they are still shaken after it. With the support of his friends in Ireland, Alfredo decided to set up a GoFundMe page to help him along in his recovery.
In a video this week, Alfredo has given an update on his recovery and said he wished to thank everyone who has supported him and his girlfriend. He said: "Thank you very much for all the help during these last two weeks, I cannot walk but I'm really motivated by all the help, donations and all the messages I have received during these last two weeks.
"It has been amazing and thank you so much for the donations and good wishes. God bless you and we will repay you forever."
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live that "this investigation remains ongoing" and no arrests have been made. "Gardai are investigating an incident which occurred on the Shantalla Road in Santry, Dublin during the early hours of Sunday morning, 23rd April 2023.
"No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing."
