A 20-year-old student was left disappointed after ordering a new iPad form Amazon, only to receive something else entirely.
Abi Chipchase from Spennymoor, County Durham, had purchased the tablet to help with her studies, but was left furious after received several bars of Dove soap instead.
The student ordered the iPad on December 6, and was informed that Amazon had attempted to deliver it a few days later but nobody had been in to receive the parcel.
But when the parcel was finally delivered the following day to Abi's mum, Abi opened it to find the bars of soap instead of the device.
She had originally purchased the tablet after being given a £500 voucher at college, which a tutor advised her to spend on the tablet to assist with her studies.
She had also bought a wireless keyboard and stylus with the iPad.
Abi told The Northern Echo: “I’ve seen the same thing happen to a few other people too.
“It’s affecting my studies now as I still don’t have the iPad and I need it for my course.”
Despite initially contacting Amazon a number of times they didn't at first offer her the full refund she wanted for the product.
However, her efforts finally paid off and Amazon offered her a full refund for the product.
Even that has not been quite enough however, as Abi claims that the price of the products has since gone up by a whopping £80, meaning that she will be left out of pocket if she decides to re-order to replace the lost item.
An Amazon spokesperson told The Northern Echo they had apologised to Abi and processed a full refund.
The Mirror has contacted Amazon for a comment.
