Blanchardstown firefighters lend a hand in a myriad of emergency situations, but their personnel had to carry out the "purr-fect" rescue on Sunday when they were asked to free a cat that had been stuck under a car. The cat had travelled some 78 miles from Athlone to Dublin, and Dublin Fire Brigade later tweeted: "We're open to names for the cat."
It was found safe and well, despite its trauma, and several people had their quips at the ready. Damien Storan suggested the animal had been hiding in the "cat-alytic converter", while JT Moomin suggested the name "Phileas Fogg" after the cat's marathon journey.
