Struggling Aldi mum gobsmacked as stranger steps in when cashier stops scanning

A hard up mum has thanked a good samaritan who came to her aid after she ran into difficulties at the checkout of her local Aldi. Francesca Jay was left speechless as the stranger intervened to help.

While roaming the aisles, Francesca was only too aware she could only afford to spend a total of £50 for her family of three, including her seven-year-old daughter Sophie and four-year-old son William. The MEN reports how she headed to the checkout with her regular shop only to watch in horror as the cashier scanned items and the total edged ever closer her limit.

Operating on a tight budget amid rising prices and a cost of living crisis, the mum-of-two had no alternative but to to ask the cashier to stop scanning her items. This meant she had to leave a number of vegetables, a loaf of bread and her kids' favourite frozen ice lollies.
