Strictly Come Dancing contestant Will Mellor has given a health update to fans after his appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two on Thursday.
Will has had an eventful first few weeks on Strictly. Having lagged behind Helen Skelton and Fleur East in the bookies' odds before the first live show, he soared past them in the betting after he and pro partner Nancy Xu delivered a red hot debut routine to land one of the highest week one scores in Strictly history. The judges and viewers couldn't get enough of the performance but, sadly for Will he didn't carry that momentum through to the second week and his and Nancy's scores took a significant downturn, after they failed to impress with their salsa.
Normal service was resumed last weekend, when they were back near the top of the leaderboard following their routine to a Dirty Dancing, only for Will to them reveal that he'd been battling through the pain, a fter an old footballing injury flared up. And, as he and Nancy appeared on the latest instalment of It Takes Two, fans watching at home that Will sounded really poorly.

Picking up on the comments he'd seen in the aftermath of the interview, Will took to social media late on Thursday to post a video update. With his phone in selfie mode, Will croaked: "Firstly, I just want to apologise for the way I sound. I've not been well at all this week. I went into training on Monday and I just had to go home as I was feeling poorly."
He continued: "I've been laid up ever since. I've got a bug, virus whatever you want to call it; I was aching all over, it was horrible. If you've got it out there, I feel your pain, as a lot of it is going round this time of year, these flu variants."
Focusing on his It Takes Two appearance, Will added: "I've just done It Takes Two and a lot of people were commenting, saying you sound really poorly. So I just want to say, thanks for your comments, but I probably sound worse than I am, as I've coughed my throat out."
He then admitted it was a case of 'seeing what he could do' with his rumba on Saturday night.
