Strictly's Helen Skelton makes 'honest' admission about her performances on show so far

Helen Skelton has admitted she's been 'underwhelmed' by some of her performances on Strictly Come Dancing, in an honest confession made on camera during Saturday night's show.

The series so far has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for the Blue Peter and Countryfile presenter. After being the final celeb confirmed for Strictly 2022, Helen fled rehearsals through a fire exit before the first live show in September, with pro partner Gorka Marquez having to talk her into coming back in. Former finalist Gorka has been Helen's biggest cheerleader, even offering a very public display of support for her in week four, when he spoke out to praise her for being 'an amazing woman, an amazing mum and an amazing dancer.'

Helen and Gorka were left smiling ear to ear after getting a series high score of 35 out of 40 for their BBC 100th Birthday routine, a Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune. There was another special episode this weekend, with Strictly hosting its annual Halloween Week, although hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were slammed for their lack of costumes.

Helen and Gorka were transformed into Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf for a Foxtrot soundtracked by the song Lil' Red Riding Hood by Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs. While they received plenty of decent feedback from the judges, their scores didn't match the highs of last week, with them 7, 8, 8 and 9, giving them a total of 32.

Before they got their marks, Helen and Gorka spoke to Claudia and it was during that chat, that Helen admitted she'd been 'underwhelmed' when watching her dances back at home. Talking about the judges' comments, she said: "They always say, exactly what you (Gorka) say 'more of this, more of that, but like James (Bye) says, this isn't what we normally do. You think you're giving it big licks and then you watch it back and go 'oh, that's underwhelming.'

"In my head I'm all over there, but then when I watch it I'm like 'oh I get it,'" to which Claudia replied: "I see, it's all exaggerated."

Helen's core put her in the middle of the leaderboard, right after Claudia had addressed the 'curse' of finishing in that position after Fleur East, Kym Marsh and Molly Rainford all fell into the dance-off in consecutive weeks.
