Giovanni Pernice has given his firm backing to his former Strictly Come Dancing partner Rose Ayling-Ellis, after she announced a huge new TV role.
It's been 18 months since Giovanni won the coveted Glitterball trophy on the BBC show, in the same year that then EastEnders star Rose made Strictly history as the first ever deaf contestant to take part. After wowing the judges and viewers at home and triumphing in the final, Giovanni and Rose then travelled the country on the Strictly tour, winning all but one of the audience votes, before going onto win a Must See Moment BAFTA for their pioneering Couple's Choice routine.
Since becoming a Strictly champion, Rose has quit her role as Frankie Carter in EastEnders and been nominated for an Olivier Award for her role in As You Like It. And now, having won plenty of praise for her guest appearance on Loose Women earlier this month, Rose has now been confirmed to be in the cast of new ITV drama - Code of Silence.

Rose will take the lead in the six part thriller, playing Alison Woods, who is struggling to make ends meet, juggling two jobs, in a police canteen and a local bar, while also doing her best to support her deaf mum, Julie. When DC Ashleigh Francis calls on Alison to lip read the conversations of some dangerous criminals, she is plunged into a new and exhilarating world.
Rose shared her excitement at being in Code of Silence on Instagram, joking: "I CANNOT wait to bring this to life with @itv! However I cannot say much about it because…. It is the Code Of Silence."
Among the many people to react to Rose's post was Giovanni, who reacted with flame, heart eyed and applause emojis.
Giovanni and Rose were recently reunited on screen in his and Anton Du Beke's new BBC series Adventures in Sicily, with Rose's appearance sparking an emotional response from viewers.
