Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer after she discovered a lump in her breast. The BBC dancer revealed that the diagnosis comes 10 months after she got married to Ben Jones.
Amy has battled with the chronic gut condition Crohn's Disease since she was a child and has since been diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer. When she found the lump Amy rang her GP and went in straight away, reports The Express.
She was later sent for an emergency referral. "Everything happened so fast within that day,” she said in an interview with HELLO! magazine.

“I went on my own and didn't tell anybody, but when I was there, the nurse said to me: 'You need to have somebody here' and that's when Ben found out.
"They told me it was looking very suspicious and to prepare for the worst, hope for the best. They did the biopsy and then we had a wait."
It was only last week that Amy and Ben were told the news that she had grade 3 breast cancer.
"All I wanted to know after I was told was: 'Ok, what's the plan? How long until I’m back on the dance floor?'" Amy recalled.
“My doctor explained to me that there are three grades, and three is the most aggressive, but they feel like they've caught mine early and to not be too alarmed because grade 3 would be expected in somebody of my age."
The dancer, who is 32-years-old, shared that her mum had breast cancer when she was in the 50s. She also shared that she has been supported by Giovanna Fletcher and her husband Tom, with whom Amy was partnered on Strictly in 2021, when she told them her sad news.
It was the day before the newlyweds were supposed to fly to the Maldives for their honeymoon, when the BBC star discovered the lump in the right breast. The couple got married in July last year.
The lump on her breast sparked further concern for the professional dancer when she attended a dance show with her husband and the lump felt bigger.
Amy took to Instagram to share the news with fans. She wrote:"Hey all, I've got some news to share. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm determined to get back on that dancefloor before you know it."
She signed off "Welsh Love Amy x."
