Bristol's very own Strictly Come Dancing star Jayde Adams has shared a sneak peek into life backstage on the glitzy BBC show. Jayde, who is from Bedminster, made her Strictly debut over the weekend with a samba to Christina Aguilera's 'Dirrty', which she performed with partner Karen Hauer.
The 37-year-old comedian won a standing ovation from members of the audience and judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas. And while many of us tuned in to watch Jayde and her co-star's first on-air dances, we do not have the privilege to know what exactly goes on backstage.
But this morning (September 26), Jayde shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into backstage Strictly life on her Instagram account, posting a video recorded by Helen Skelton of her dancing with Strictly professional Gorka Marquez. Alongside the video, Jayde wrote: "Thank you @helenskelton for capturing this lush backstage moment I had with @gorka_marquez. Let’s all enjoy @karenhauer’s little slippers as well."
In the video, Gorka can be seen taking Jayde through the rhythms of a salsa routine as other members of the cast and crew watch on. Jayde's Strictly partner Karen can be seen dancing along as she watches from the sidelines in her slippers.
Some of Jayde's fellow Strictly stars commented on the post alongside a number of the Bristolian comedian's fans. Karen commented along with a fire emoji: "Salsa!!!!!"
Meanwhile, Gorka's dance partner Helen wrote: "Always cheering u on from the side lines my love."
Fans of the show also shared their love for the video and dance moves. "You are sooo good already!!!!" said idratherbeinstives. "Effortless."
Leonie J commented: "Love this. Makes me so happy on a rainy Monday morning. Thank you."
"Good balance!" said Librascale.
Following Jayde and Karen's debut performance, Motsi praised the comedian, telling her: "You’re absolutely contagious. The energy, you’re selling parts of the performance, we’ve got all of that.
"Please do me a favour, keep it up and forward wherever the journey may move but work on those techniques, work on those feet and work on sustaining that level from one up until the end of the dance. But what a start, I say."
This week's episode of Strictly Come Dancing will air on Saturday, October 1, at 6.30pm on BBC One.
