Strictly Come Dancing's Jayde Adams cut from outfit minutes before performance

Bristolian comedian Jayde Adams had to be cut from her outfit minutes before appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, according to reports.

The Bedminster comic suffered a near wardrobe disaster during week two of the show ahead of her performing to Adele classic Rumour Has It. After a quick fix, comedian Jayde, 37, and partner Karen Hauer, 40, performed the tango like nothing had happened.

Jayde told the Mirror: “I had to be cut out of it. And then when it fell off it was so tight it flicked around and hit one of the girls in the face.

"We absolutely killed ourselves laughing. We had 20 minutes to stage time as well. It was really funny."

Jayde recalled how she and Karen were waiting beside the dance floor watching their rivals when the mishap occurred with the body stocking under her dress.

“I’m sat there and we’re watching the others and all of a sudden Karen notices I start going funny and she was like, ‘Are you OK?’ I’m in extreme pain. I need to go. So she calls over the floor manager. I go backstage.

“Underneath the outfit you’re all tight and when you dance you wear this tight thing and it’s got straps that go around my legs.

“I wore the straps between my legs the week before and they were fine. This week I told the girl putting me in it to go a bit tighter. What a mistake, because one of the straps started twisting and whilst it was twisting it took with it everything down there!”

Last night, tearful Strictly fans commended Jayde as "inspirational" after she shared an emotional tribute to her late sister. She performed the American smooth on the show and dedicated it to Jenna, who died 11 years ago.

In rehearsals she explained her song choice, Wind Beneath My Wings. She said: "Bette Midler was mine and my sister Jenna's most favourite musician when we were growing up. We used to have CDs of Bette all over the house and we'd make up dances to Bette in our parents' living room.

"The lyrics to the song really resonate. She [Jenna] was two years older than me, and she died 11 years ago."

The comedian wiped away a tear from behind her glasses and asked for a second to compose herself, as she recalled some of their most cherished childhood memories in front of the camera crew. She said: "I didn't just lose my sister, I lost my best friend, I lost my dance partner.

"Her telling me to make everyone laugh was my calling. When my sister said 'that's what you are here to do now' I just knew what my place was in the world.

"This song in particular is very special to me and my family and I really hope that I can do it justice this week." She and dance partner Karen Hauer danced the American smooth, and judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas were on their feet applauding as the routine came to an end.

Motsi said: "Thank you very very much for sharing your story and sharing your sister with us, I think she would be so proud of you. It was beautiful to see, beautiful to watch. Today you changed the mood and it was beautiful - a side to you I really loved."
