But even a grime superstar who has headlined Glastonbury struggles with dating.
Chatting to Louis Theroux, Stormzy, 28, who dated Maya Jama for four years before they split in 2019, said dating was “a new thing” for him. He said: “I didn’t date before my ex – I wasn’t out there dating.”
He said: “I wouldn’t do f***ing Tinder or Raya. The idea of meeting a girl and – let’s just go to get some food – that’s alarm bells.
“Any time I’ve had a date we have to go through the back door at the restaurant because people are going to blow up the poor girl’s life. People in the restaurant will try and film it and that’s not fair on the person I’m with.”
Stormzy, honoured as Diversity Champion at yesterday’s AIM Awards, admits he has not settled on the solution.
He said: “I’m still trying to figure it out. I always say I’m just waiting for God to present me with my woman. It’s a bit passive, but I’m all out of ideas.”
The new BBC2 series Louis Theroux Interviews, starting later this autumn, will also feature Dame Judi Dench, Rita Ora, Bear Grylls, Yungblud and Katherine Ryan.
