Multiple flights were diverted from Cork to Dublin yesterday as Storm Franklin hit Ireland.
Yesterday, Status Orange weather warnings and a nationwide Yellow wind warning were in place.
Coastal areas saw huge waves of up to 50 feet and there were severe gusts across the nation.
A spokesman for the daa told Dublin Live that five flights supposed to land in Cork were diverted to Dublin due to the bad weather.
He said: "This required the respective airlines, and their ground handling companies to arrange buses to transport these passengers discommoded back to Cork."
The spokesman also said a number of flights scheduled to depart from Cork were cancelled and some passengers were bussed by their airline to Dublin where their flights were rescheduled to operate from.
Others were put on the next available flight from Cork.
One KLM flight from Amsterdam failed to land twice at Cork Airport before being diverted to Dublin.
A passenger praised the crew for handling the situation professionally and that transport back to Cork was arranged for them.
They said on Twitter: "Captain was incredible! Amazing communication throughout, really calm.
"He actually took questions from passengers as we were disembarking. Crew took some crap from one idiot but dealt with really professionally. Fair play KLM."
A spokesperson for KLM told Dublin Live: "The plane was unable to land in Cork due to the weather conditions, it was too windy. Passengers have been transferred to Cork via bus."
