Storm Claudio: East Lothian hit with yellow weather warning ahead of strong winds

A yellow weather warning has been issued for parts of East Lothian as strong winds are set to hit eastern Scotland.

The Met Office have issued the warning, which is in place until Wednesday evening, for Dunbar although Storm Claudio is slowly making its way further inland towards Edinburgh and the rest of the Lothians.

On their site, the Met Office said: "A spell of very strong southerly or southwesterly winds will affect some western coastal areas, including including western Wales, northern England and southwest Scotland, as well as the east coast of Northern Ireland, during Wednesday, before spreading inland during the afternoon and affecting eastern Scotland later. Yellow warnings for wind are in place.

Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “Much of the UK can expect a spell of strong southerly winds on Wednesday, but the warning area highlights where gusts of up to 65mph will be and therefore where there are likely to be some travel delays.”

in parts of East Lothian, heavy rain will sweep eastwards across all parts on Wednesday, with strong winds potentially causing disruption later in the day. The temperature is also due to plummet to just 4C in the evening with some scattered showers.
