A pundit has said Gini Wijnaldum's potential return to Liverpool would only represent a 'stop-gap'.
Having left Anfield 12 months ago on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, the move has not gone to plan and the Dutch midfielder is thought to be seeking an early exit after failing to nail down a regular starting berth. Speculation has mounted that Jurgen Klopp's side could be in for a surprise reunion.
The club have claimed that their transfer business has concluded following the arrivals of Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsey and that a new midfielder will be put on hold until the summer of 2023. And though Reds fans may be open to a Wijnaldum making a comeback on Merseyside, pundit Noel Whelan has backed the club to be patient and bring in the 'right people' when they become available.

Rumours continue to grow that Liverpool will make a move for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham next season, with the player 'ticking all the boxes' for both manager Klopp and sporting director Julian Ward.
