Stocks Erase Early Gains as Alphabet and Software Companies Fall

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is down -0.40%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is up +0.27%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is down -0.30%. September E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) are down -0.38%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) are down -0.30%.

Stock indexes gave up an early advance today and are trading mixed. Alphabet is down more than -6% to lead megacap technology stocks lower after announcing that Google DeepMind Vice President Jumper is leaving the company to join Anthropic PBC. Also, the weakness in software companies is weighing on the broader market.
