Stephen Sullivan designated to return from IR

Austin Corbett isn’t the only player the Carolina Panthers took off the shelf on Wednesday.

As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com late this morning, tight end Stephen Sullivan has been designated to return from injured reserve. This move comes along with the clearance of Corbett, who is seemingly on the very end of his recovery from a torn ACL.

Sullivan hit the IR back on Aug. 31 due to a hip injury. The setback kept the 26-year-old pass catcher out of the team’s entire slate of preseason contests this summer.

Now a fourth-year veteran, the 2020 seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks first joined the Panthers on a reserve/futures deal in February of 2021. He went on to appear in 17 games for Carolina between the last two seasons, amassing two receptions and 46 yards over seven targets.

Like Corbett, Sullivan will have 21 days to be moved to the active roster as he makes his return to the practice field.
