Before the NBA season gets underway, a flurry of different preseason power rankings are dropping across various sports media networks. A common theme in each set of rankings is Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
To no surprise, the reigning NBA Finals Most Valuable Player is sitting atop CBS Sports’ list of point guards for the 2022-23 season. In a list of 22-floor generals from around the association, Curry was listed at No. 1. Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic and Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant rounded out the top three from CBS Sports.
Via CBS Sports Brad Botkin:
Curry is still the standard not just for current point guards, but perhaps, arguably, for any point guard who has ever played the game. Don’t punish the guy because he’s an all-time great off-ball mover and shooter by saying he’s not a “true” point guard. The position has changed. He is the one who officially changed it. And he remains at the height of his powers. — Brad Botkin

Along with breaking the record for all-time 3-pointers made in NBA History and winning the All-Star Game MVP, Curry helped lead the Warriors to the 2022 NBA title. On the way to winning his fourth championship ring, Curry was named NBA Finals MVP for the first time in his career.
During the 2021-22 NBA campaign, Curry averaged 25.5 points on 43.7% shooting from the field, with 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds per contest.
