Steph Curry ranked among top-5 NBA players

Steph Curry remains one of the most impactful players in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors veteran enjoyed a strong 2022-23 season despite the Warriors failing to retain their NBA championship. As such, there are high hopes for Curry heading into the new basketball year, especially given Golden State’s offseason additions.

According to a recent ranking by ESPN, Curry’s exceptional talent has him listed among the top 5 players in the NBA.  Curry is fifth, behind Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Here is what ESPN had to say about Golden State’s superstar sharpshooter.

“For the third straight year, Curry is ranked No. 5. He led the NBA in 3-pointers made for the third straight season, doing everything he could do to help his team stay afloat, but the group’s struggles and chemistry issues were too much for Curry to overcome by himself. Curry also suffered two different injuries that limited the two-time MVP to 56 games.

…Last season, Curry averaged the third-most points in his career (29.1). But on-court support wasn’t there, and neither was team chemistry. Now, he’s playing alongside one of the best point guards in the league in Chris Paul, and through just a handful of preseason games their partnership seems strong.”

According to ESPN’s ranking system, Curry has been a top-5 player in the NBA for the past three years. The Warriors All-Star guard shows no signs of slowing down, primarily because his game is based on skill rather than elite athleticism.

Curry could have a huge season for Golden State in the coming months as he undertakes a more off-ball role alongside Chris Paul, with Klay Thompson also sharing the court with the two future Hall of Fame guards.

However, there will certainly be an adjustment period, and how the Warriors navigate will greatly impact how their season evolves.
