Steph Curry got tripped and NBA fans had a ton of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ jokes

The Golden State Warriors took a 3-0 advantage over the Dallas Mavericks Sunday, but it didn’t come without a scary moment involving Stephen Curry.

After a defensive play by Curry in the first half, the three-time NBA champion was so focused on the offensive possession that he didn’t see a waiter on the sidelines.

As it turns out, that was a more dangerous decision than he would have expected, and the 34-year-old guard ended up tripping over the waiter and falling to the floor.

Fortunately, the fall wasn’t consequential, and Curry got up just fine. But it could have been way worse, and that would have sucked for the Warriors!

However, because he was okay, fans were able to make some jokes about the incident. That’s because, believe it or not, there is an episode of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm in which nearly the exact same situation happens.

Watch the scene, which is an all-time classic, with Shaquille O’Neal:

My goodness, after watching that again, Curry was lucky that he tripped over a waiter and not comedian Larry David. Perhaps if the Seinfeld creator was seated courtside instead, we would be having a much different conversation today.

Curry’s game was broadcast on TNT, which means Shaq was hosting the halftime show. Shaq referenced the fictional moment, adding “if I see you, Larry David!” for good measure.

NBA fans who double as fans of Curb were quick to note the situational similarities, and some even invented a new word to describe what happened to Curry.

Take a look for yourself and learn the new verb, Larry David’d, below:
