One of the more fascinating free-agent options in the NFL this offseason is wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham has been hampered by injuries throughout his career but when healthy, still has the potential to be a highly-productive receiver. Beckham recently held a private workout to show teams he is healthy and ready to contribute but the Pittsburgh Steelers were not one of the 12 teams represented.
According to CBS Sports, the Panthers, Patriots, Cardinals, 49ers, Bills, Chiefs, Vikings, Ravens, and Jets were present at Beckham’s private workout, along with all three of Beckham’s previous teams: the Giants, Browns, and Rams.
Pittsburgh is in the market for a veteran receiver to round out the depth chart and add some experience and leadership to the receiver room. But for Pittsburgh, the potential baggage of Beckham doesn’t seem to be something they wish to entertain. The Steelers have two very talented young receivers in Diontae Johnson and George Pickens but could use an experienced production guy who can not only work with them but also give quarterback Kenny Pickett that presence on offense.
