The Pittsburgh Steelers were already thin at offensive tackle and now, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, things have gotten even worse. Fowler reported that reserve offensive tackle Dylan Cook could miss several weeks with a foot injury.
Many fans didn’t give Cook much thought before this but with rookie offensive tackle Troy Fautanu on the mend from a knee sprain, Cook was the team’s top reserve offensive on the depth chart for both sides.
Cook could be headed to short-term IR to start the season. Each team is designated two players who can be placed on short-term IR and not have them count toward the team’s 53-man roster to start the season.
#Steelers OL Dylan Cook expected to miss several weeks with a foot injury, per source. Pittsburgh already beat up across the offensive line, now lose Cook, a key reserve.

If Cook goes on IR, the next man up would be Devery Hamilton. If not for the injury, Hamilton would be a prime candidate to stash away on the practice squad. Now the team might need to seek out a veteran another team released to help solidify the depth chart.
