Steelers LB T.J. Watt avoids surgery for torn pectoral

ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter is reporting that the torn pectoral injury suffered by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt will not require surgery. Watt suffered the injury last in last week’s game attempting to sack Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

There was concern that Watt could have a complete tear and would require surgery. This would have likely meant the Steelers would have been without Watt’s services for the remainder of the season.

The next steps for the Steelers and Watt should be to place Watt on IR designated to return. This would line up closely with how long Watt is suspected to be out.
