On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they had secured their No. 4 cornerback when they signed James Pierre to a one-year contract. Pierre returns to the Steelers for his fourth NFL season.
Pierre joined the Steelers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic. He was the undrafted free agent to make the Steelers 53-man roster that season. Pierre has started six games in the last two seasons and has two interceptions during that stretch.
During the past two seasons, Pierre has established himself as a fine rotational cornerback and dime corner. The Steelers have seen some turnover on the cornerback depth chart this offseason with Cameron Sutton signing with the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh signing Patrick Peterson to replace him in the starting lineup.
