Stay in a 'stargazing lodge' nestled within the Lake District

The school summer holidays are in full swing and staycations seem to be the way forward for many families.

A good old staycation removes all the hassle of busy airports and can sometimes be more affordable. With the recent travel chaos, many of us are choosing to go on a trip away closer to home.

Blaithwaite Estate in Cumbria still has some last-minute availability during the school summer holidays, perfect for families who haven’t booked a summer getaway just yet. With a choice of camping, glamping, and lodge accommodation, the secluded estate offers a classic British summer holiday destination for those who love the outdoors.

Nestled between the Lake District and the wild Solway Firth coastline, families can enjoy 50 private acres during their stay. From woodland walks to bushcraft classes, wildlife spotting and bug hunts, Blaithwaite Estate has plenty to keep the kids busy.

For those who love a spot of camping, the camping grounds offer pitches for tents with access to wash facilities. Camping includes sweeping views across the Solway Firth and wildflower meadows as you sit back and relax.

The Estate offers optional extras including celebration packages, breakfast and BBQ packs from the local butcher to wood fire pits and marshmallow packs for late-night treats around the campfire. Blaithwate also has a range of ready-to-roll glamping experiences. From bell tents to yurts complete with fairy lights, bunting, scatter rugs, raised beds and cooking equipment.

There are cosy lodges available suitable for 4-6 people if you'd prefer not to camp. Each lodge is designed with a panoramic skylight above a double bed to really create an atmosphere.

The Stargazer Lodges provide a chance for families to experience uninterrupted views of the stars. With a private outdoor living area, a hot tub, BBQ and outdoor seating, the lodges are an ideal spot for a relaxing staycation. Book your stay here.
