A medical centre costing £5 million is still sitting idle and with no GPs on site, a year after it was built. The situation is following a staggering NHS "cock-up", a councillor has claimed.
The clinic was meant to welcome medics soon after it opened, but, according to independent councillor Sean Hornby, healthcare chiefs stalled the move over “contract negotiations”. And photos now show the modern clinic, fit with 14 consultation rooms, laying shuttered months after GPs were meant to begin treating patients.
Councillor Hornby said he was “annoyed” with the slow progress, after he'd “fought like mad” to secure the money for Little Lever Health Centre in Bolton, Manchester.
